Homeless charity Mustard Tree becomes an official partner

Alkrington Tennis Club is very proud to announce that Mustard Tree, a local charity that helps the homeless and disadvantaged, has become an official partner.

Back in 1922 Alkrington Tennis Club was built to serve its local community - a place where local people could spend some recreational time, enjoying the sport of tennis, socialising and having fun.  Today our desire to serve the local community remains just as strong as ever and, as a club, we feel it is important to have a wider purpose.

Although we try to make our club as accessible to as many people as possible through very competitive membership rates we recognise that there are disadvantaged people in the community who struggle to enjoy the basics, never mind a game of tennis, and we want to help.

Last year we held a Christmas Party where everyone brought along some food to share, the party extremely well supported and a great success.  But, as is common with these things, everyone brought a little too much food and we had way in excess.  In the spirit of Christmas we felt it would be a good idea to get that food to the homeless rather than it go to waste and contacted local charity Mustard Tree who gratefully took the food and forwarded it on to those less fortunate - our relationship with this local good cause established.

We will repeat the exercise this Christmas but we will also look to help the charity in other ways across the year too.
